How to use PNG to JPG
- 1Drop your PNG files into the box or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
- 2Set the quality with the slider or the Small, Balanced and High buttons.
- 3Pick the fill color for transparent areas: white, black or a custom color.
- 4Click Convert to JPG, check the size saved for each file, then download one file or all as a ZIP.
Choosing a quality setting
JPG quality is a trade-off between file size and detail. For photos and screenshots, 80 to 92 looks the same as the original to most people while cutting the size a lot. Use 60 when the file must be as small as possible, such as an upload form with a size limit.
After converting, each file shows its new size and the percentage saved, so you can change the slider and click Convert again until you are happy.
What happens to transparency
JPG cannot store transparent pixels. Many converters silently turn them black, which ruins logos. Here you choose the fill color yourself. White suits documents and most websites, black suits dark themes, and Custom lets you match a brand or page color exactly.
Files that had transparent areas are marked in the results list so you know which ones were filled.
Good to know
- Text-heavy screenshots and flat graphics can look softer as JPG. Keep those as PNG or use a high quality setting.
- Shrink large images resizes before converting, which is the fastest way to a small file.
- Nothing is uploaded. Very large images depend on your device memory.
Frequently asked questions
What background color do transparent areas get?
White by default. You can switch to black or pick any custom color before converting.
What JPG quality should I use?
80 to 92 is a good range for most images. Go lower only if you need a very small file, and check the result for blocky edges.
Why is my JPG larger than the PNG?
Simple graphics with few colors compress very well as PNG. JPG is made for photos, so for flat graphics it can be bigger. In that case keep the PNG or lower the quality.
Can I convert a whole folder of PNG files?
Yes. Select or drop up to 100 files at once and download the results as a single ZIP.
Is it safe for private images?
Yes. The images are converted by your browser on your device and are never sent to a server.
