How to use GIF to JPG

  1. 1Drop your GIF files into the box or click Choose files.
  2. 2Choose First frame only or Every frame (ZIP) for animated GIFs.
  3. 3Set the JPG quality and the color for transparent areas.
  4. 4Click Convert to JPG.
  5. 5Download the JPG or the ZIP of frames.

First frame or every frame

First frame only saves the image you see before a GIF starts playing, which is what most upload forms want. Every frame (ZIP) saves each frame as a full-size JPG, rebuilt the way the animation plays, so you can pick the best moment or use the frames elsewhere.

Transparent backgrounds

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent parts of a GIF are filled with white by default. You can switch to black or any custom color to match where the image will be used. If you need the transparency, use GIF to PNG.

Size and quality

GIF uses a 256 color palette, which makes photo-like GIFs look grainy and large. JPG often gives a smaller file for those. For simple graphics with flat colors, PNG is usually smaller and sharper than JPG. Quality 90 is the default; lower it for smaller files.

Batch conversion and privacy

You can add up to 100 GIFs at once. Each one is decoded in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, and the results can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP. With Every frame turned on, each GIF's frames go into their own folder inside the ZIP, so frames from different GIFs never mix. Turn on Shrink large images if you need smaller pixel dimensions, for example for a profile picture.

Frequently asked questions

Which frame is saved from an animated GIF?

By default the first frame. Choose Every frame (ZIP) to save all of them.

What color do transparent areas become?

White unless you pick another color under Background.

Can I convert several GIFs at once?

Yes, up to 100 files per batch, downloaded as a ZIP.

Will the animation still move?

No. JPG is a still image format. To keep motion in a smaller file, convert the GIF to MP4.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser.

Why does my JPG look different from the GIF?

If the GIF had transparent areas, they are now filled with the background color. Lower quality settings can also add slight blur around sharp edges; use quality 90 or higher, or convert to PNG for graphics.
